Symborska and I

I had the great pleasure of meeting Symborska in 2000. I was able to interview her and chat about poetry. A very warm and gentle spirit, she allowed for a young person to question her writing. That feeling will never be forgotten, as we two souls sat at a dim lit table discussing the many wonders of world. For that, I am extremely grateful. She was and will remain a great influence on my writing.

“…whatever else we might think of this world — it is astonishing.”

Full speed ahead

As I reflect on last years success,
I remind myself to keep going forward.
This month I will be busy with public appearances at college of the canyons.
Also, I have signed up with the emerging leaders to do workshops.
As far as grad schools go, I have filled out 3 applications and working on 2 more.

I am excited for the future. As my fortune says, I am on the right path!

Full speed ahead :)

New Year 12

One resolution I have made, and try always to keep, is this:
To rise above the little things.
~ John Burroughs

Its been an interesting year 2011,
graduation and the grand canyon came flying by,
grad school in the near future,
never regretted anything,
ready for my next journey.

as we entertain the new year,
keep an open mind,
never be fearful,
always be on your toes,
because you never know when the next adventure begins.

welcome the new breath,
as it awakens great energy within you,
make it count
and let the good times roll!

may this new year be greater, better, and more beautiful than the last.

With all my love and appreciation,

Words are Connection!

WORDS
i am not without words,
each time they find a place within walls or paper books,
i am with words,
my one weapon to draw my own curtain,
for each are those that die in vain,
that have no words,
that simply do not wish to profess,
words are what come from creation,
a beauty unlike i have never seen,
these are the markings of artists and poets,
for each day i draw a new song,
each day is a new beginning,
years should not be written in graphs or diagrams,
but in forms of lyrical lines,
the dust may fall and winters may cool the ever-ending heat,
in the end words are what we utter last.

I wanted to share a new poem that I just created after hearing Nikky Finney who won the National Book in Poetry 2011.
I was empowered by her acceptance speech. Her tone of poetic inclinations is something that is not heard enough.  Also,
I am have been reading a lot of Robert Pinsky and his views on culture.  I am returning to my roots while still empowering those that I meet.  Thats poetry!

I will be out for two weeks in Sac and San Fran; hanging out with good people and creating new art as always :)

Enjoy the good life

Giving & Thanks 2011

“...in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter and the sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.” - Kahlil Gibran

Give humble thanks,
for today’s wonders,
are endless.

expecting goodness,
in the capacity of,
unlimited hope,
should surround our minds.

Giving and receiving,
postivity and optimism,
may open the gates,
to great happenings.

all that remain,
in the end,
of the dry land,
are those around your heart.

great things are possible,
with fine words,
great humans,
and mighty dreams.

never underestimate friendship,
or days of just being,
for from those,
stem honest beings.

a hopeful wanderer,
i am.
an idealist,
of every kind.
because i believe.
because i believe.
i believe

Thank you for your support of my dreams.
Without your helping hand, I would not be where I am today.

Yes, I am a dreamer but without dreams nothing could or would get done.
Keep dreaming, keep breathing because the next day shall begin a new.

Happy GivingThanks 2011

I follow my road

Last week was simply wonderful.  I went back to Sac.  It felt like I never left.  My old corners havent changed.  I was embraced once again within the Multicultural Center.  I once again was reaffirmed in my belief in humanity.  It was beautiful just to be.  Fall weather is great in Sac because the leaves change colors and take on new identity.  The conversations, dialogue, and being was great.  I will return soon enough.

Most importantly, I had a job interview with the Workforce Recruitment Program for the federal government.  It was a great interview.  I felt confident about my accomplishments.  I never had an interview where the other person understood my passions and projects I have been involved in.  I am not feeling cocky however I knew my stance and I am satisfied.  I will remain happy in my dream of moving up.

"You are a divine being. You matter, you count. You come from realms of unimaginable power and light, and you will return to those realms.”

Walking while the sun rises

Its been a fantastic couple of days...

I was invited to the Mayors Luncheon last week.  I met Cheri Fleming who co-owns Valencia Acura.  The car business has been male dominated but Fleming has been able to thrive in that world.  Will be meeting with her soon to continue collaborations together.   I have been attending many chamber events.  I will become a member because contacts are there.  Also, the junior chambers are great events for networking as well.

I think its been going well.  I cant believe I only started in August and so much progress has been made.  I am thankful for everyones support and being patient with me.

Soon, I will feature my documentaries on the scv tv local channel.  This way I can feature my story and have an outlet.
